....and is currently heading to its 31st year.  It was originally created to get the Springdale track team to train over the winter.  The first nine years it was held in Springdale.  Then it was moved to West Central Community Center, where it has been held ever since.  The proceeds are used to fund the Bloomsday Road Runners Club Youth Fund.  This helps supply Spokane kids with the things they need to participate in track and cross country.

The story began in 1987...

Most years it is cold outside, but there is a great gym to hang out in before and after.  It is a chance to catch up with other runners as the new year gets underway.  There is a prize drawing that starts one hour after the race starts.  The awards are given as soon as that drawing is done.  There are awards for teams:  (all teams are 2 members) 1st male team, 1st female team, 1st co-ed team.  There are awards for first open (under 40) male and female individual overall , first masters male and female individual (individual awards are for people not on a team).  Then there are age group ribbons for male-female teams.  The age groups are unique (0-42, 43-60, 61-80, 81-95, 96-112, 113-129, and 130+).  How many races have a 130 + category?
